Tips for Shooting a Personal Branding Video

So today I was asked by an broker for tips on shooting a YouTube personal Branding Videos for her agents, here’s what I sent her:

Make sure they are wearing comfortable cloths that represent what they wear on a daily basis- don’t dress up for this, be your self… be the way your clients will see you every day. (however, try to avoid prints- solid color tops are best) Make sure they’re sitting on a stool- or a comfortable chair…

inside video shoot

Have someone there directly behind the camera, they are talking to, it will take their mind off the camera- Tell them they are at a “party” and they’ve just met someone they haven’t met before- role play this, with them- make sure to capture what they are saying about themselves…

It comes across more natural and less scripted. Ask them these questions when you’re video taping- don’t stop the tape, just keep it natural conversational- you can edit everything…. You’ll find a good 20-30 second clip of them if they feel they’re just having a conversation…

Make sure to train them to repeat the question in a statement before the answer the question. For Exapmple you’ll ask: “How did you get into real estate?” They’ll say “The reason I got into real estate is…” (this makes it flow better on camera) http://www.flickr.com/photos/theimagegroup/ / CC BY-NC-SA 2.0

How did you get into real estate? Why they are you in Real Estate, What do you love about your job, what is your niche market and why did your choose it, what sets you apart from other agents, what’s advice are you giving to all the buyers our there today, Do you prefer buyers or sellers and why?

You will also want to shoot an introduction shot, it will be their Name, Company, and elevator Pitch For example: “Hi, I’m shannon King with Schoolhouse Realty, where we donate 10% of our earnings to schools of our client’s choices.”

You can edit this in with the other shots and it will be a great video!!!

Shooting VideoIf they are doing this on their own, and they are out and about: Same thing as above with their clothes. Have them go to a place that represents them- a listing, a buyer’s house, a park, a school- something that they are passionate about. Have them answer the same questions as above in a conversational style.

Only add- why they’re where they are, what it means to them, and what it means to their brand. SO for example my company is called Schoolhouse Realty- it may be neat for me to be in front of a school if I was doing this, I would start my video by saying, “Hi, I’m shannon King with Schoolhouse Realty, where we donate 10% of our earnings to schools of our client’s choices, like this one behind me, The reason i got into real estate is xyz….” Short simple, and identifies what I stand for….

Happy Shooting!!
